Baltimore Inner Harbor Panoramic

 

 Here is a panoramic shot of the Baltimore Inner Harbor.  I did not submit this photo to the large stock photo sites because  you can clearly see the sign of the Rusty Scupper Restaurant as well as the names of many of the boats.  Most people who would want a picture like this would be happy to have these names in the shot, but I'm sure the stock photo place will say it can't be done.  So, like always, here's a great free stock photo for  you.  I hope you enjoy and comment here about where it is being used.

Restaurant Heilig Geist Spital at night

While I'm posting pictures that got rejected by the stock photo sites I should catch up on posting some photos that never even made it there in the first place.  This is a fantastic shot of the Heilig Geist Spital at night.  I put the camera down the canal bridge railing and set the self timer to take this shot.  Unfortunately, I suspect that the stock photo site will say this type of photograph can not be used for commercial purposes so I'll just post it here instead.

Jaws of life

REJECTED:  Reason: FOCUS ISSUE: Image is not in focus when viewed at 100% or the focus is not on the main subject. NO MODEL RELEASE: Every recognizable person in this image must have a signed release uploaded and linked accordingly.

First, the only thing out of focus in this image is the background and that was on purpose.  The fireman is crisp as can be.  Second, I picked a photo where you can't see the person's face so I wouldn't need a release.  The large stock photo companies loss is your gain.  Have fun with this great picture of a fireman holding the jaws of life.

Fire Horn

I've got two great free photos for you today fresh off the decline pile at one of those large stock photo websites.  Sometimes I think they get their joys on giving out rejects for no good reason.  This photo was declined for "Reason: POTENTIAL COPYRIGHT/TRADEMARK/PRIVACY INFRINGEMENT: Image cannot be licensed commercially and is not suitable for Editorial purposes. Restricted subject matter could include: private property without a release, copyrighted art, visible logos, vehicle license plate, etc. "
I find it hard to believe the letter F can be a trademark.  Use the photo for anything you want, but be warned I don't have a release so it is at your own risk if the "F" police come after you.

I thought I did a good job with this photo.  The stock photo web site did not seem to agree.  DECLINED Reason: JAGGED EDGES/POOR ISOLATION: Aliasing/Anti-Aliasing issues, Clipping Path or poor isolation techniques

Front end loader clearing snow

This shot of a front end loader clearing snow was taken with a canon XSi camera and enhanced in GIMP under windows.  I thought it was a pretty nice photo and would be good on the stock photo sites.  Unfortunately, it was rejected as noted under the image.

Apple Pie

I took this apple pie image at an odd angle so I didn't submit it anywhere.  I might try to fix it in photoshop, but the cut off plate will make it hard.

Helipad over Water

rejected for "Reason: Dull, lifeless color: Colors are dull or lackluster. Sometimes this can be fixed using some saturation boost in Photoshop."

Boardwalk Construction

I love taking pictures of construction projects.  Unfortunately, it seems the stock photo sites don't like to accept photos of construction projects.  This photo of boardwalk replacement in Atlantic City, NJ was rejected as follows:
Reason: Snapshot composition: This image is more of a snapshot than a marketable stock image. Overall problems can include poor lighting, poor composition, non-interesting subject matter, etc.

Atlantic City Panoramic Take 2

Here is another Atlantic City Panoramic.  This one is shot with a Canon XSi camera and is much sharper than the previous image I uploaded to the stock photo site.  Unfortunately, a different excuse was used to not accept the picture this time:

Interestingly, there are plenty of photos on the site where building names are visible so I think your luck on who is doing the photo evaluation goes a long way in having a photo accepted. 

Well, since it was rejected it's yours free now. The uploaded picture is over 40 MP.

Udvar-Hazy Air & Space Museum - Enterprise Space Shuttle

The Udvar-Hazy center of the National Air & Space Museum system has a sign as your walk in that says photography permitted for non commercial purposes only.  So, I guess that means I can't submit them to the stock photo sites.  I'll share them here for you for free as always, but your use on these will have to be limited to comply with the Air & Space Museum rules.  

Hippie Bus

This sho tof a Hippie Bus was rejected for "Potential copyright / trademark / privacy issue with photo (could be: copyrighted art, visible logo, license plate number, etc) sorry..."  I suppose I could try to edit out the license plate, but given it's a vanity plate and not a real plate I didn't think that would be a problem when I sumitted it to the stock photo site.  Rather than trying again, I figured I would just post it here for your free use.  Again, just comment on the posting if you plan on using the picture somewhere.  No other payment is required.  Thanks!
